ODIS online services cover several different workshop operations for supported Volkswagen Group vehicles. Component Protection, immobilizer adaptation, key adaptation, online coding and online programming are not interchangeable services. The correct option depends on the vehicle, control unit and exact repair job.
ODIS Component Protection removal
Component Protection may become active after a supported control unit is replaced or moved. The online workshop procedure matches an eligible module to the vehicle. “Removal” describes completion of the authorized adaptation process; it is not a permanent deactivation of the vehicle security system. The VIN, module address, part number and diagnostic report should be checked before ordering.
ODIS immobilizer adaptation
Immobilizer adaptation is a secured operation used during eligible replacement or repair procedures. The workshop must confirm ownership or customer authorization and provide the requested vehicle and component information. Used modules, incompatible part numbers and unresolved communication faults can prevent an online adaptation.
ODIS key adaptation
Key adaptation must be performed only for the legitimate owner or an authorized workshop. Key eligibility, part number and current vehicle status should be verified first. A key that is already assigned, expired or unsuitable for the vehicle cannot be corrected simply by repeating the online procedure.
ODIS online coding
Online coding configures supported control-unit functions according to the vehicle and guided repair process. Coding does not replace software flashing or parameterization. Before coding, save a complete scan and record the original configuration where appropriate.
ODIS online programming
Online programming can involve control-unit software and requires stable voltage, reliable communication and the correct repair plan. The diagnostic laptop must remain powered, the VCI must stay connected and a professional battery support unit should be used. Hardware faults and incompatible modules must be resolved before programming.
