Audi Component Protection removal is the ODIS online workshop procedure used to match an eligible protected module to an authorized vehicle repair. It is commonly requested after a compatible Audi control unit has been replaced. “Removal” means completing the supported online adaptation; it does not permanently turn off the security system.
Identify the Audi job correctly
Audi platforms can use protected functions across different control units and vehicle generations. Before the online job, collect the VIN, model and model year, target-module address, hardware and software part information, and the exact ODIS message. State whether the replacement unit is new or used and describe any previous coding attempt.
Prepare the vehicle and diagnostic environment
- Run and save a complete vehicle scan.
- Confirm the target module communicates without interruption.
- Use professional battery support and stable workshop power.
- Connect the Audi-compatible VCI securely.
- Use reliable internet and prevent computer sleep or restart.
- Keep original coding and configuration information where available.
After Component Protection
Completing Component Protection may not finish the full repair. Depending on the Audi vehicle and module, separate coding, parameterization, basic settings or calibration may still be required. Hardware faults or incompatible components must be corrected separately.
