How to Download and Install Mercedes XENTRY VCI Driver

Updated: 12 August 2026.

The Mercedes XENTRY Diagnosis VCI is the communication interface between a supported Mercedes-Benz vehicle and XENTRY Diagnosis. This guide covers the VCI supplied with the Mercedes XENTRY Diagnostic Device product; XENTRY software licensing, user rights and online certificates remain separate requirements.

Where to obtain XENTRY VCI software

Use the XENTRY installation and VCI operating components supplied for your exact diagnostic kit or provided through Mercedes-Benz B2B Connect diagnostic systems. The dedicated VCI, XENTRY software release and firmware must be compatible. Do not install a driver copied from an unrelated multiplexer solely because it also uses an OBD connector.

How to install Mercedes XENTRY VCI

  1. Confirm the exact XENTRY VCI model and the software package supplied with the product.
  2. Close XENTRY Diagnosis and disconnect other PassThru or diagnostic interfaces.
  3. Install the supported XENTRY environment and its VCI/operating components with administrator permission.
  4. Restart Windows or the Diagnosis Pad when the setup process requests it.
  5. Connect the XENTRY VCI using the supplied wired connection for first detection.
  6. Open the XENTRY control/VCI configuration function and verify the interface identity and connection state.
  7. Complete any required multiplexer firmware update without interrupting power or communication.
  8. Open XENTRY Diagnosis and perform vehicle identification before beginning coding or programming.

Wired connection before Wi-Fi

Mercedes-Benz support guidance recommends returning to a wired connection when VCI communication over Wi-Fi cannot be established. Complete initial configuration and firmware preparation by cable. Configure wireless communication only after the dedicated VCI works reliably with the installed XENTRY environment.

XENTRY VCI troubleshooting

  • VCI is not detected: verify the cable/network adapter, power and Windows network state.
  • XENTRY lists no multiplexer: close other diagnostic managers and confirm the dedicated VCI components were installed.
  • Firmware update is requested: update through the supported XENTRY/VCI function and keep the connection stable.
  • Wi-Fi connection fails: switch to the supported wired method and retest before altering firewall settings.
  • Vehicle cannot be identified: confirm VCI detection, vehicle voltage, OBD connection and software coverage separately.

Mercedes XENTRY Diagnostic Device

View the Mercedes XENTRY Diagnostic Device. For order-specific installation files, send 1XOBD the order number, exact VCI label and the XENTRY release you intend to use. This helps prevent a driver or firmware package intended for another multiplexer from being installed.

Programming safety: Keep the diagnostic computer powered, use regulated battery support and never disconnect the VCI during firmware or control-unit programming.
