ODIS key adaptation is an authorized online procedure used to adapt an eligible key during a legitimate vehicle-owner or workshop repair. Key compatibility and ownership authorization must be confirmed before the operation. A failed or ineligible key cannot be corrected simply by repeating the online job.
Information required before key adaptation
- Vehicle make, model, model year and VIN when requested
- The number of eligible keys available
- Key part number and source information
- A complete diagnostic scan and ODIS message
- Details of earlier key or immobilizer work
- The VCI and ODIS environment used by the workshop
Brand-specific ODIS key adaptation
The service can be assessed for supported Volkswagen, Audi, Škoda, SEAT, Bentley and Lamborghini workshop jobs. Vehicle generations and key systems differ, so the brand name alone is not enough to confirm eligibility. Provide the full vehicle and key data before purchase.
Common reasons a key job cannot continue
- The key is already assigned to another vehicle.
- The key or part number is not eligible for the vehicle.
- The required ownership or workshop authorization is unavailable.
- The vehicle has unresolved immobilizer, power or communication faults.
- Not all keys required by the guided procedure are present.
- The requested operation is actually a separate immobilizer or module job.
Safe workshop conditions
Use stable battery support, reliable VCI communication and a powered diagnostic computer. Keep the complete vehicle and key set available until the final function check is complete. Do not interrupt the guided procedure unless instructed.
